CHILD OF LIGHT, CHILD OF DARK Prologue “You what???” A young girl by the age of fourteen yelled at an older woman. Her long black hair reached her lower back as her crystal blue eyes blazed with anger. “Honey, there is no need for screaming.” The woman quietly responded. Her black hair was cut to her chin and her brown eyes looked at the girl in front of her in her school uniform which were the color blue white and black. “It was already arranged two days before your birth.” “Don’t I have a say in this mother. I mean it’s my life!” The girl heatedly spoke. “Or does my life don’t mean anything to you.” “Look Sari, it was an arrange marriage that I couldn’t interfere. Your father and his close friend arranged it. He’s last wish before he died last year was for you to fulfill this arrangement and bring honor to this family.” The woman stood from her chair and walked to the kitchen with a mug in her hand. Knowing that her daughter was on her trail she continued. “Besides the guy you’ll be marrying doesn’t know about this, his getting the talk as we speak from his father. He’s not that bad really Sari.” “But mother I don’t want to do this.” Sari whined. “He will be here to pick you up shortly. He lives on his own with a couple friends. You’ll be living with them.” She continued as if she didn’t hear her daughter whine. “What!!!” Sari screamed. “Just how old is he?” “He just turned eighteen.” “Four…FOUR years older!” Sari screamed again. She had been doing a lot of that today. “Mother!!!” “Come on Sari. It won’t be that bad.” Her mother turned around to face the angry teen. “To tell you the truth your father and I, were also pre engaged and we turned out fine.” “You mean…oh…I had no clue.” “Please Sari do this at least for me, huh?” Her mother begged. “Fine but it doesn’t mean I’ll like it. Were does he live?” She asked “In Tokyo.” Sari was about to scream but instead she calmed down and sighed. “When?” “Tomorrow.” Her mother answered. “We only live in Toyama City it’s not that far from Tokyo.” “You don’t get it…I’ll be leaving everything behind for a stranger.” Sari turned around and went to her room. “But I do understand honey. I really do.” The middle age woman whispered as she watch her daughter leave her sight. She sighed and picked up the phone she dialed a number and waited for the tone. “Hello.” A deep yet old voice answered. “Sukio I told her. Did you tell him?” “Yes, Hana. He didn’t take it to lightly.” “I don’t blame him.” Hana sighed. “She’s angry at me Sukio. Are you sure we’re doing the right thing?” She asked in a hurtful and worry voice. “Yes, Hana. For the sake of everyone it has to go through.” “It might take time for them to fall in love though. I’m afraid she’s not awaken yet.” “I know it will take time. His not either Hana, but we can’t have her awake. She has to stay asleep that is why we are putting them together” There was a pause. “He’ll be there in the morning…10 o’clock, ok?” Hana sighed. “Yes. She’s packing now.” “Hope to see you soon.” Sukio whispered “I hope so too, Sukio.” A click was heard on the other side. Hana sighed and dropped the phone. ‘Please, Omi let everything go ok. Guide your daughter.’
